  • Description

These are fantastic reproduction tags commonly found on issued wool blankets.  This tag indicates that the wool has been treated with EULAN, a chemical that kills moths, preventing damage to the blanket or garment.  The treatment was manufactured by the I.G.Farben company. It was a very popular solution to the moth problem and often appears on other wool garments.  You will not find these tags anywhere else.  We had them made for our reproduction army blankets. We used our 3 letter code "kem" on the bottom of the label to identify them as reproduction in a subtle way. The 3 letter code on the bottom of the tag did not indicate the manufacturer and we have found many, many letter variations so using our letter code is not such a bad thing. We also noticed much variation in the weave of originals so the very subtle variations in our reproduction compared to the original are well within acceptable tolerances.  When we prepared the artwork, we spent over 20 hours mapping out each individual thread to make the reproduction as accurate as possible. Check the comparison photo.

These tags will wear just like the originals. The type of weave leaves some very long exposed threads which, over time, will snag, fray, and pull to wear out very similar to the original. It should stand up to normal use for quite some time.

Each label measures about 1 1/4" across and just under 1 3/4" long (not including the folded over ends).

We also have some manufacturing seconds, tags which came back to us with the colors reversed (blue hand rather than yellow). We have no use for them so they are sold in groups of 5 for $1.
