  • Description

Small trench art calender made by a German soldier (or prisoner of war) stationed in Norway. It is carved "1945 Norwegen" with an anchor. It is made from aluminum and has paper cards for the date, day of the week and month.  This was purchased in Berlin; the soldier who made it was from the North of Germany as Saturday is written "Sonnabend" instead of Samstag. Sonnabend is a Northern German way of saying it ("Samstag" is the actual correct word for Saturday). It is in good condition overall. It is missing the 13/14 card and some of the cards are dirty. It measures 3 1/4" tall and 1 5/8" across.
