This is a machined steel reproduction of the Model 42 smoke egg grenade Nebel Eihandgranate 42 or Nb. Eihgr. 42. This is a 1:1 scale display piece that nicely represents the very rare Nb. Eihgr. 42.  Only about 1.8 million were produced during the war compaired to the nearly 7.5 million stick type nebel hgr.  This reproduction breaks down into four seperate pieces not including the carry ring and the pull ring.  The bottom half threads into the top half. Its quite heavy and very well built.  The original was made of two stamped halves but this reproduction is made from two turned halves.  The fuse is made from brass and can be pulled just like the original. It is marked in white paint with 3 lines and the letteres "Nb. Eihgr. 42 kem 1942" and has a paper label "Lebensgefahr - beim Abbrennen in geschlossenen Räumen".  The green color is unusual for german equipment but closely matches the original.
